The wait is over.
Just 10 days after Everett Withers was scrapped in San Marcos, the 33 year old Jake Spavital has been reportedly named as Texas State’s 18th football coach.
The former Missouri State Bears’ quarterback got his start as an offensive quality control assistant at Tulsa before moving on to Houston and Oklahoma State to work as a graduate assistant.
In 2011 Spavital became the quarterbacks coach for West Virginia where he coached future NFL draft pick Geno Smith. Smith thrived under Spavital, throwing for 8,590 yards and 73 touchdowns in the two seasons Spavital served as QB’s coach.
