Foley, Ala. - Mackenzie Gibbs scored her third goal of the season to give Coastal Carolina a 2-1 double overtime victory over Texas State to advance to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Women's Soccer Championship.
Gibbs' initial shot prior to the game-winner was saved by Texas State goalkeeper Heather Martin. However, Martin could not corral the ball to allow Gibbs to punch it in the net for the victory (104:41).
Texas State (10-6-1) got on the scoreboard first on an early goal from Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year Kassi Hormuth. Hormuth found a loose ball from a scrum in front of Chanticleer goalkeeper Rylee Atteberry and punched it into the net in the fifth minute for the 1-nil lead.
