Georgia Southern’s momentum that seemed to spring up out of nowhere in the shutout of South Alabama last week continued on today, as the Eagles rolled through UL-Lafayette in a 34-24 win and its first road victory since Oct. 22, 2016.
Wesley Fields was the star of the show for the upstart Eagles, rushing for a career high in yardage with 186 to go along with a first quarter score to put GS ahead with an initial 7-0 lead seven minutes into the game.
The Eagles looked sharp offensively early on, rolling up 17 unanswered points to start the game, including a 53 yard strike from Shai Werts to Ellis Richardson to put the Ragin’ Cajuns behind the eight-ball early.
