Appalachian State Pulls Off Another Autonomy Five Football Win at North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – For the first time in league history, the Sun Belt Conference has pulled off wins over three Autonomy Five conference schools in the same season with Appalachian State's 34-31 victory at North Carolina.

The Mountaineers’ win marked the conference’s 11th win over an Autonomy Five opponent in the last 10 seasons (2011-19). Nine of the league’s 11 Autonomy Five wins over that span have been on the road.

2011 – North Texas 24, Indiana 21 (Denton, Texas)
2012 – ULM 34, No. 6 Arkansas 31 [ot] (Monroe, La.) and
Western Kentucky 32, Kentucky 31 [ot] (Lexington, Ky.
