COLUMBIA, S.C. – Appalachian State achieved Sun Belt Conference football history with its 20-15 victory over South Carolina.
The Mountaineers are the first Sun Belt school to win two games in the same season against an Autonomy Five conference school. It also marks the program's first win over an Southeastern Conference school.
The Sun Belt has recorded four wins against Autonomy Five conference opponents in the same season for the first time in conference history:
- Georgia State’s win at Tennessee was its first over a Southeastern Conference opponent and first against an Autonomy Five opponent in the program’s 10-year history.
