NEW YORK - A total of 30 Sun Belt Conference baseball student-athletes were drafted this week in the 2018 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft. Eleven student-athletes were taken on day two and an additional 18 were selected on the draft's final day.
South Alabama's Travis Swaggerty was the first Sun Belt baseball student-athlete to hear his named called, going tenth overall in the draft to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Sun Belt's draft began with a Jaguar being taken and ended with another Jag. Drew Labounty, who missed all of the 2018 season, was drafted in the 40th round by the Toronto Blue Jays.
