Stoke manager Mark Hughes could make a move for Chelsea skipper John Terry after permanent deal for Bruno Martins Indi looks set to fall through

Mark Hughes has indicated he could reignite his interest in John Terry with a deal for Bruno Martins Indi appearing to hit the buffers.

It had been understood that an £8.5million fee was agreed to make the Porto defender’s loan move permanent but Hughes suggested that is not the case.

Should a move for Martins Indi be scuppered Hughes hinted he would have no hesitation in launching a firm bid for Terry, who is a major target for Bournemouth, Stoke’s opponents on Saturday.

Hughes said that a transfer for Dutch international Martins Indi, who has been a success at the bet365 Stadium this season, was underway but added: ‘He's not our player so we're in the hands of Porto.
