Augsburg director Stefan Reuter has confirmed that left back Kostas Stafylidis is close to joining Stoke on loan.
The 24-year old wing-back has had limited first-team opportunities this season but Stoke want more cover for left back Erik Pieters.
He will become Paul Lambert's first signing.
The 24-year-old is a Greece international as Lambert looks to bolster the leakiest defence in Europe's top five leagues.
Reuter told the German press on Wednesday morning: "The deal is not yet official but it is in the last leg.
