Stoke City SUSPEND winger James McClean for breaching Covid-19 rules and he'll sit out Championship clash against Blackburn while club investigate alleged visit to a private gym

James McClean has been suspended by Stoke City as they look into an alleged breach of Covid-19 restrictions, the club has confirmed.

McClean posted a video to Instagram of what appeared to be himself training in a private gym alongside a boxing coach this week. Under current UK-wide guidelines, gym visits are strictly prohibited.

The club confirmed that McClean will now miss their Championship clash with Blackburn Rovers while the issue is investigated.

A statement from Stoke read: 'Stoke City can confirm that James McClean has been suspended with immediate effect pending a disciplinary hearing into an alleged breach of COVID-19 regulations, namely training in a private gym.
