Nottingham Forest look set to beat Cardiff City to the signature of Stoke City striker Sam Surridge.
Cardiff want to bolster their attacking resources after agreeing a deal to sell Wales striker Kieffer Moore to Bournemouth.
They had been set to sign Surridge, 23, on loan for the rest of the season - but now look like losing out to Forest.
The City Ground club could sign former Swansea City loanee Surridge on a permanent deal.
Surridge joined Stoke last summer, arriving from Bournemouth on a four-year deal.
He has scored four goals in 24 appearances this season.
