The 27-year-old, who has previously played for clubs including Real Madrid, Hoffenheim and Hannover, has agreed a three-year deal at St James’ Park. It is believed the deal was valued at around £5million.

“I’m looking forward to getting to know my teammates, the city, the training ground, the stadium and all the supporters. I’m very happy to be here.”
Toon boss Rafa Benítez, who has been largely frustrated in his efforts in the transfer market this summer, added: “We have known Joselu since his days at the Real Madrid academy, and we know that he has the potential to do well for us.
