Charlie Adam took to social media to post an emotional tribute to Blackpool and England legend Jimmy Armfield before leaving a signed Stoke City shirt at Armfield's statue.
Armfield passed away on Monday after a long battle with cancer and Adam, who enjoyed a close friendship with Armfield during his three-and-a-half years at Blackpool, was among many in the footballing community to speak glowingly of the former England captain.
Known to Adam as 'Mr Blackpool', the veteran broadcaster was a 'popular' figure and one the 'whole of football' will miss greatly.
'It’s a sad day for everyone involved with Blackpool FC, the town of Blackpool and the whole of football in general,' Adam said in his tribute.
