Your Stanford football recruiting news update for August 14th:
Four-star Rancho Cucamonga (CA) cornerback Treyjohn Butler publicly commited to Stanford football at his high school on Friday night, choosing the Cardinal over Cal, Washington, Arizona State, Northwestern, Illinois, Washington State and Colorado.
"It's a great opportunity for me and my family," Butler said of his commitment to Stanford, via 247Sports. "I have the ability to further my education on the next level. It's a lifetime opportunity."
Ranked as the #20 cornerback in the Class of 2016 according to 247Sports' Composite Rankings system, Butler recorded 50 tackles during his junior season while finishing up the year with a stellar 4.6 GPA.
"Stanford is getting a physical player with ball skills," Butler said. "They are getting an athlete that can play multiple defensive back positions. I can play the whole field. Whether it's nickel, dime or free safety."
He marks the 14th verbal commit for Stanford in what is continuing to develop into an impressive 2016 recruiting class for head coach David Shaw.
"It's an awesome class to be honest," Butler said. "I'm excited to be able to play with them. We are going to shock the world."
