Stanford Cardinal head coach David Shaw may be forced to prep his offense to account for the absence of projected starting wide receiver Michael Rector for the team's season opener at the Northwestern Wildcats.
Per John Taylor of NBC's College Football Talk, "Saturday, David Shaw announced that Michael Rector has been suspended from his football program for what was only described as “disciplinary reasons.” The Cardinal head coach gave no timetable for the wide receiver’s return, which is the textbook definition of an indefinite suspension."
Rector, a senior, has appeared in 27 games for the Cardinal over the past two season with three starts.
He entered summer camp as a likely starter for the Cardinal, coming into things as the program's second-leading returning wideout when it comes to overall receiving yardage.
