After 15 straight years of being picked first in the Pac-12 women’s basketball preseason coaches poll, Stanford was pegged for second Wednesday behind Oregon State.
It probably shows how much the competition has improved that the Cardinal didn’t get a single first-place vote. Oregon State had 11 first-place votes and 121 points to 104 for Stanford. Arizona State was third with one first-place vote and 102 points. Cal and UCLA (each with 88 points) tied for fourth.
The Cardinal finished third in the league last season with a 13-5 mark but won the Pac-12 Tournament for the 11th time in 14 tries.
