Stanford hired Ron Gould as its new running backs coach on Thursday. Gould has spent the last four years as the UC Davis head football coach.
Gould is an experienced recruiter in the Bay Area. Before his head coaching stint at UC Davis, Gould coached for 16 years at Cal.
When Gould was the running backs coach for the Bears, he tutored an impressive group of runners, including Marshawn Lynch, JJ Arrington, Jahvid Best, Shane Vereen, and CJ Anderson.
Gould is the second assistant coach that David Shaw has hired that was also a member of Jeff Tedford’s staff at Cal, joining special teams coordinator Pete Alamar.
