Arizona and Stanford lead the Pac-12 into spring practices -- winter practices? -- and both produced notable news items this week.
On the plus side for Stanford, previous reports of the return of safety Zach Hoffpauir, who'd left the program after starting 11 games in 2014 to play minor league baseball for the Arizona Diamondbacks, were confirmed. So Hoffpauir is doing a Tyler Gaffney, who became a critical part of the Cardinal's Rose Bowl run in 2013 at running back.
It would seem Hoffpauir could step right into the void left by the departure of Kodi Whitfield, who replaced him, but some young players could push him for the starting job.
