There wasn’t a head linesman at Saturday night’s Stanford-Washington game. But there was a head lineswoman.
Catherine “Cat’’ Conti, the first woman official to ever to work a Pac-12 game, handled her first Stanford game and performed well, according to Cardinal head coach David Shaw.
On a play on which Cardinal tailback Remound Wright was ruled down just short of the goal line – he scored on the next play – it was Conti who made the call.
Some people on the Stanford sideline wanted Shaw to challenge the call, but he said the replay was put on the large video board and showed the ball “was right where she put her foot.
