Washington’s loss to USC this past Saturday was certainly damaging for its College Football Playoff hopes, but the Huskies received good news Tuesday when the committee’s new rankings showed only a two-spot drop to No. 6.
If the Huskies win out, they’ll be hard to leave out of the playoff, considering half of the Pac-12 is now ranked and they’re behind two teams, and likely a third, that will not finish the season as conference champion. Winning out, however, won’t be easy.
At this point, there are still several likely scenarios to prepare for, which makes this type of exercise both fun and one of futility.
