Stanford’s Wednesday night exhibition game against Sonoma State has been cancelled.
The Kincade Fire in Sonoma County has caused all sorts of havoc in the North Bay. Structures and homes in Geyserville and Healdsburg have been lost, other cities have been evacuated, and just about everywhere (including my house) has experienced multi-day power outages.
Sonoma State is in Rohnert Park, south of Santa Rosa. They’re narrowly outside the evacuation zone, but complications from the fire and a healthy dose of precaution have caused the university to cancel all activities for the rest of the week.
This marks the second straight year the Cardinal have lost a game to fire.
