SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Stanford will play rival Notre Dame without its best player, as running back Christian McCaffrey has been ruled out for Saturday night's game.
McCaffrey missed much of the second half of last weekend's 42-16 loss to Washington State with an undisclosed injury.
The runner-up for the Heisman Trophy last season, McCaffrey is the Cardinal's leader this season in all-purpose yardage. The junior has 520 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the year, along with 18 catches for 154 yards with a receiving TD. McCaffrey also has returned two punts for 16 yards this season to go with 11 kick returns for 251 yards.
