Stanford is close to filling one of its most critical starting roles: Conrad Ukropina is in position to be the team's next kicker, at least for field goals.
Special teams coordinator Pete Alamar said that Ukropina "deserves first shot" at Jordan Williamson's former job because of his consistent performance this offseason.
