1. Stanford sophomore Christian McCaffrey entered the UCLA game Thursday night second in the FBS with 229.8 all-purpose yards per game. Yet McCaffrey had scored only two touchdowns in five games. Five times he went down at the opponents’ 1- or 2-yard-line, and the Cardinal scored on the next play. On the first offensive touchdown against the Bruins, McCaffrey returned a kickoff to the UCLA 4, and on the second, he ran to the Bruins 9 -- and yes, both times Stanford scored on the next play. Finally, McCaffrey scored on a 9-yard run -- but only after the replay official reversed him being ruled down inside the 1.
