The Stanford Cardinal's Pac-12 conference rivalry with the USC Trojans has extended to the recruiting trail, as 5-star 2016 quarterback KJ Costello is reportedly torn between the two schools.
As Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports points out, "the Cardinal had been considered the long-time favorite to land the U.S. Army All-American, a lot of it based on the premise that it’s such a great opportunity for the in-state standout with Stanford having not taken a quarterback in 2015 on top of their track record of developing the position with a system that is advantageous for as smooth a transfer a player can have to the NFL."
However, the Rancho Santa (CA) Santa Margarita Catholic standout is being enticed by the current "it" program in California, USC.
Yet, nothing is truly decided as Costello has reportedly been changing his mind back and forth almost daily between the two schools, according to sources close to the young signal caller.
One source did say that “S.C. will be tough to beat," but such statements should be taken with a grain of salt -- especially this early in the recruitment process.
Stay tuned.
