Stanford ended up with a solid, if unspectacular haul of 2015 recruits. Ranked 5th in the Pac-12 by the 247Sports Composite, David Shaw's group of incoming freshmen should fill some key needs and help make sure the Cardinal don't miss a beat next season. Let's take a look at the key members of the Stanford's 2015 recruiting class:
WR Trent Irwin
The 4-Star WR (pictured above) hails from Newhall, CA, and he's one of the most technically sound receivers in this recruiting class. The #8 WR in the Class of '15 is a skilled route runner who compensates for average speed with great technique and surprising strength. He chose Stanford over Cal, ASU, UCLA and a number of other Power 5 schools.
CB Frank Buncom IV
Buncom had his pick of top academic programs, but he eventually settled on Stanford over Notre Dame, Cal, Vanderbilt and Duke. A superb tackler and one of the smartest players in the Class of '15, Buncom is rated as the #15 overall cornerback by the 247 Composite.
RB Bryce Love
Love is the #6 all-purpose back in this recruiting class, and he ultimately chose Stanford over the nearby UNC Tar Heels (Love hails from Wake Forest, NC). His top-end speed and elusiveness will be a major asset in Stanford's ground game, and he has the skill and maturity to contribute right away.
ATH Cameron Scarlett
A torn ACL cost Scarlett most of his senior year, but a very strong junior season kept Stanford, Washington and UCLA interested. Equally dangerous as a running back and a slot receiver, it's still unclear how David Shaw will make the most of his talents.
Other Names To Know:
OG Nick Wilson has the size and power to see playing time as a true freshman, while C Brian Chaffin and monster 6'8 OT Jack Dreyer also have real potential.
The Cardinal also added a pair of very good safeties from the south - Florida native Ben Edwards and Louisiana's Justin Reid will add valuable depth to Stanford's secondary and compete for starting jobs down the road. CB Quentin Meeks is also one for the future.
