Stanford came out and grabbed an early lead over Cal in a heated rivalry game, and they took a 24-7 lead into halftime.
The Cardinal continued to cruise in the second half despite some chippy plays and questionable calls, and pulled out the blowout victory to become bowl eligible.
Turning Point:
Stanford went on a long drive that ended in a 5-yard Remound Wright touchdown run right after Cal had cut the Cardinal's lead to three. The touchdown put Stanford up 17-7, and the Golden Bears never got any closer after that.
Key Stat:
Cal simply made too many mistakes that cost them the game. They turned the ball over five times and committed 12 penalties for 113 yards.
Stanford MVP:
Wright had a huge game for the Cardinal, rushing for 92 yards and four touchdowns on just 23 carries.
Cal MVP:
Running back Daniel Lasco had a good game for the Golden Bears, but Cal was forced to abandon the running game once they were down big. He ran for 103 yards and a touchdown on just 18 carries.
What’s Next?
Stanford will close their regular season on Friday night at UCLA, while Cal will try and become bowl eligible next weekend against BYU.
