On Friday, the esteemed sabermetric forefather Dan Szymborksi released the projections of the St. Louis Cardinals using his ZiPS projection system. It is an unambiguously positive report. The Cardinals have ten position players who are projected for 2 WAR or higher (if they received the appropriate playing time to do so, and all ten players will not get the appropriate playing time to do so.)
Projection systems are a good tool, but baseball is a sport played by humans and as such, there’s never going to be anything that can predict how a player will do with absolute certainty.
