“The good news about this is if we want to look at the bright side — which I tend to — is we’ve got some really capable guys who can do that and will do that if given the opportunity,” Shildt said. “I trust Bud. He’s a guy that has done a great job for us. I expect him to continue to get high-leverage situations and pitch late in games. … It will be a constant evaluation, and we’ll use our eyes and our instincts.”
