Wilking Rodriguez, who was acquired by the Cardinals this past winter during the Rule 5 draft, underwent shoulder surgery Wednesday morning that will sideline him for four to six months, Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said before the Cardinals' Wednesday matchup vs. the Angels.
“Scoped out the shoulder. No repair, but they had to get in there and do a couple of things,” Marmol said.
Rodriguez, 33, first experienced shoulder issues during spring training that led him to the injured list ahead of the Cardinals’ season opener on March 30. Before his injury, Rodriguez made seven Grapefruit League appearances where he allowed four runs, seven hits, and struck out six in 6 1/3 innings.
