JUPITER, Fla. • Singles by Charlie Tilson and Aledmys Diaz and a wild pitch by former Cardinal Chris Narveson allowed the Cardinals to push across the go-ahead run in the seventh inning Thursday as they went ahead of the Miami Marlins 4-3.
The inning would have been more productive but for Marlins left fielder Justin Maxwell, who earlier had homered, leaping to take away an extra-base hit from Patrick Wisdom.
ROSENTHAL FANS TWO
Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal wasn’t necessarily efficient in his first exhibition outing but he was effective, striking out two men in a 22-pitch fifth inning.
