JUPITER, Fla. • It remains to be seen which of baseball’s proposed rules changes will become reality this season or next, but Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. and president of baseball operations John Mozeliak are in favor of anything that would hasten the playing of the game.
DeWitt said Saturday that he particularly favored the proposition that relievers had to face at least three hitters, “because you would not have so many pitching changes.”
The major rules change, though, would be the universal designated hitter, taking the National League out of play as the only baseball entity not to use it.
