Matt Carpenter is definitely back.
It wasn't long ago that St. Louis Cardinals fans were lamenting the batting slump of their All-Star third baseman. But like all slumps, this one was made to be broken. Carpenter continued his onslaught Sunday at Milwaukee with a seventh-inning, three-run homer that temporarily lifted St. Louis to a 4-3 lead. It was his seventh home run in the last 10 games, and he now has 17 on the season.
When he entered the dugout, teammate Carlos Martinez had a surprise for him -- although it's unclear why anybody wearing red would want to cool him off now:
