JUPITER, Fla. • Rightanded reliever Jordan Walden, who has been impressive this spring when he’s pitched, still won’t be doing for the next couple of days as he hopes to rid himself of a knot in his lat muscle behind his shoulder.
That was the word from Cardinals manager Mike Matheny Sunday morning and Matheny agreed that it will be a difficult decision as to what to do with Walden on the opening day roster if he isn’t able to pitch until Tuesday or later.
Walden, who hasn’t allowed a run in six innings over six outings, hasn’t worked since Monday.
