Wainwright pitches around rare two-walk first inning

JUPITER, Fla. •Adam Wainwright, starting for the first time in nearly 11 months, did not exactly have his pinpoint control in the first inning in an exhibition against the New York Mets on Monday. Wainwright uncharacteristically walked two hitters and also allowed a base hit before escaping unharmed on a fly to center.

HOLLIDAY AT 1B

Matt Holliday, set back in his initial attempt to play first base on Saturday because of lower back tightness, is at first base Monday as the Cardinals play an exhibition against the New York Mets. Originally, he had been listed as the designated hitter but just before game time, the change was made and Brandon Moss went from first base to DH.
