MILWAUKEE -- After breezing through four scoreless innings in his start against the Brewers on Saturday, Adam Wainwright's evening ended with the ace hobbling back to the dugout after suffering a left ankle injury in the batter's box.
The Cardinals announced that he will be re-evalauted when the team returns to St. Louis.
Wainwright led off the top of the fifth and popped a 1-2 fastball up to the first baseman. He hesitated coming out of the box, then stumbled and stopped. Manager Mike Matheny and one of the team's athletic trainers rushed out and had to help Wainwright off the field.
