MIAMI • Righthander Adam Wainwright will head to Jupiter, Fla., on Thursday to take the next step, a minor league rehabilitation option, on his comeback trail to pitching for the Cardinals this season. But he insisted Wednesday night that he hopes to pitch beyond this season.
Asked when he would decide about his future, Wainwright said, “I want to see how things end (this year). But it would be really surprising to me if I came out and said I’m retiring.”
