Righthander Adam Wainwright completed his tour of the minor league system on his rehab option Saturday night by firing five more scoreless innings at Nashville for Class AAA Memphis. That brought the total to 17 consecutive scoreless innings with only 12 hits allowed and 23 strikeouts compared to four walks over six starts for Wainwright, who is recovering from persistent elbow problems.
And Wainwright got on the plane to go to Washington and Detroit. Manager Mike Shildt said, “That gives you an indication where he slots in.”
