Wainwright fueled by talk that season is over

Adam Wainwright talked Tuesday afternoon about gardening and taking guitar lessons to pass time now that he has been told his season is over due to a ruptured Achilles tendon.

But somewhere in the back of his mind he tinkered with the word play used by doctors in recent days to keep hope alive.

Wainwright doesn't expect to pitch again in 2015, but by leaving the door open ever so slightly, physicians may have fueled the Cardinals pitcher.
