Wacha's no-hit bid broken up in 9th

Michael Wacha was bidding for his first career no-hitter on Sunday, but Pirates pinch-hitter Colin Moran broke up the Cardinals right-hander's bid with a leadoff single in the ninth.

The last Cardinals pitcher to throw a no-hitter was Bud Smith, who accomplished the feat against the Padres in September 2001.

Wacha allowed that lone hit, while walking two and fanning eight over eight-plus innings.
