Wacha last pitched for Class AA Springfield 10 days ago and had come out of the game in the third inning with similar discomfort. He had two previous starts in Florida on a rehab option, but the season may well be over for the righthander who was 8-2 and perhaps the Cardinals’ best pitcher at the time he was hurt. Wacha was slated to throw 45 to 50 pitches Friday against Oklahoma City.
