WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. • Michael Wacha, throwing hard, worked five dominant innings for the Cardinals Friday, followed by Trevor Rosenthal’s two innings with one tainted run and three strikeouts.
Miguel Socolovich finished up with two scoreless innings as the Cardinals walked off with their fifth exhibition win in a row, 3-1, over the Washington Nationals.
No-hit for five innings, the Cardinals scored twice in the sixth, fueled by Dexter Fowler, who tripled in a run and scored the other. Greg Garcia’s single plated a run in the seventh.
Wacha, making his sixth start of a successful bounce-back spring, survived a 34-pitch, two-hit first inning, stranding the bases loaded.
