The Cardinals will see the return of Adam Wainwright on Monday night, but they lost Michael Wacha for the rest of the season.
General manager Michael Girsch said the club is shutting down Wacha after he reaggravated his left oblique.
Wacha, who was transferred to the 60-day disabled list earlier on Monday, went 8-2 with a 3.20 ERA in 15 starts before he went on the DL in June.
