Leone, a reliever, has missed most of the season with a nerve issue in his pitching arm, and he has steadily worked his way toward the end of a rehab assignment with Class AAA Memphis. In his nine appearances for the Redbirds, Leone has allowed seven runs on 13 hits and five walks in nine innings. He has struck out six. He allowed three hits and an earned run Tuesday in one of his final tuneups before the Cardinals must make a call on his status.
