In theory, he would get a start at either Jupiter or Class AAA Memphis on Aug. 26 and another, perhaps at Class A Springfield, on Aug. 31 and then the Cardinals could choose to take him off the 10-day disabled list after that. Rosters can be expanded to as many as 40 players on Sept. 1.
Coupled with the five members of Memphis’ early-season rotation who are all on the major-league club now — Jack Flaherty, John Gant, Austin Gomber, Daniel Poncedeleon and Dakota Hudson — the Cardinals will have two full rotations, plus Tyson Ross, who started 22 games for San Diego and one for the Cardinals.
