BOSTON • Luke Voit's 2-for-2 night in relief of first baseman Matt Carpenter during Tuesday's blowout loss at Fenway Park earned the Cardinals bench player a start as Wednesday's designated hitter.
After a 2-for-20 downturn in July's final 10 games, Voit is 6 for 16 in August and has a .412 onbase percentage. He takes Jose Martinez's spot as the No. 8 hitter in the only change from Tuesday's lineup.
For the first time since throwing some of the pivotal pitches in Game 6 of the 2013 World Series, Lance Lynn will try to turn around a trend that is a little more pressing than that distant history.
