Veteran Peguero making his mark

JUPITER, Fla. • Carlos Peguero, a giant-sized, 29-year-old non-roster outfielder, continued to make an early mark in Cardinals camp Saturday when he hit his second double of the young exhibition season and scored the Cardinals’ first run in the seventh inning on a one-out single by Mike Ohlman.

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Peguero has been with Seattle, Kansas City, Texas and Boston in a major league career in which he has hit .194 with three homers in 289 at-bats. He is the son-in-law of former Cardinals pitcher Pedro Borbon Sr.

The Cardinals trailed 2-1 in the seventh.
