St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Luke Weaver has been scratched from his start Sunday with a cut on the index finger of his throwing hand.
Right-hander Tyson Ross will start Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals in his place. It will mark Ross' first appearance for the Cardinals since he was acquired last week on trade waivers from the San Diego Padres.
Ross is 6-9 with a 4.45 ERA this season. Weaver is 6-10 with a 4.66 ERA.
The Cardinals, who are 5½ games back in the National League Central and 2½ games out in the NL wild-card race, will be trying to sweep Kansas City on Sunday.
