Two hits shy of 3,000, Ichiro faces Cardinals, Mike Leake

MIAMI • The crowd is already gathering here at Marlins Park and that's just in the press box.

Reporters from Japan have descended on South Florida and at least one representative of the National Baseball Hall of Fame is here for history. Ichiro Suzuki singled to right field off Jonathan Broxton on Thursday night, and he's now two hits shy of 3,000 in his career in the majors. Ichiro is in the starting lineup tonight against the Cardinals and it could be his best chance to get several at-bats in a row in this series -- and that 3,000th hit.
