NASHVILLE, Tenn. • The National Baseball Hall of Fame's committee convened to considered pre-integration era stars and executives failed to elect any of the 10 candidates, leading Cooperstown to again reconsider the committee process.
Three candidates with St. Louis ties failed to get more than three votes of support from the 16 committee members.
Twelve are necessary for induction.
The three candidates with ties to the Cardinals or St. Louis were shortstop Marty Marion and owners Chris von der Ahe and Sam Breadon. This marks another in an ongoing series of times that Marion has been considered and not gathered much support.
