ST. LOUIS -- Cardinals reliever Trevor Rosenthal will begin the season on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right lat muscle, the team announced Thursday.
Rosenthal felt soreness before his first scheduled start of spring, and it cost him any chance of competing for a spot in the starting rotation, his stated goal.
The former All-Star closer injured the lat in the weight room and aggravated it warming up for his second appearance of spring.
